Une Very Stylish Fille

Sometimes it's hard to draw the line between work and play in my line of profession. But then again, what's creativity without spontaneous outbursts of random thoughts and expressions?

High recommended to enhance visual & composition judgment, observation, perspective studies, communication & directing skills ;)

A Moment to Reflect

I don't know if 'we should be thankful' should even be used during times like this, because it sounds so inhumane when another human is clearly not doing anywhere near fine. While some of us are giving thanks that we're all a-okay, let us not forget to ask Him to end the suffering all over the world. And let us put aside our political and racial differences and extend help in anyway we are capable of; prayer, strength or monetary support.

Living by my Beliefs

" Having Beliefs are what makes us less delinquent and more eloquent,
be it religion, philosophy or even Shoes "

The weekend is almost coming to an end. This month is almost coming to an end too. Time sure flies, and soon i should find myself packing for August to conquer Mount Kinabalu.

*slight panic and still in disbelief*

I have started my training for a couple of weeks now. I can slowly feel my stamina building (i think) Hubba has successfully lost abit of tummy blurb (my fault for over feeding him) and i have yet found the perfect shoes for August. Hubba is insisting that i get Columbia, while i am only clueless as to what other choices i have since it's gonna cost a bomb one brand or the other!

Columbia Women's Tigertooth Trail Running Shoe
$79.95 (Approximately RM304 after conversion!)
*Meddling with the calculator* The price to pay for some dream to conquer eh?

Anyways, my adventure shoe shopping didn't quite made it yesterday. It's pretty odd that most of the sports shop don't even carry adventure shoes at all! >;/ So... i took a detour to another kind of shoe shopping. Padini sent me RM60 worth of cash voucher last month, and guess what?

These babies were ON SALES!!! Like SERIOUS sales!!!
Total damage: *beaming proudly* RM72.60 after voucher deduction!

Oh, i must also add i so am loving Padini's customer service. Even during sales they took the trouble to check for my size and place reservation at other outlets when i couldn't get them at the one i went to. Now that is what i call TOP NOTCH customer service! *thumbs up*

Okay, i know i kinda lost of focus with my Mission KK prep. But i did manage to get a pair of cargo pants from the Junior section in XXL because i just couldn't find anything in my size from the Ladies section, and yes i have a 13-14 year old butt, so sue me~ The next thing to cross out would be a bag pack, DSLR waist pouch and of course THAT so expensive pair of shoes!

And please you guys, if you have any experience with adventure shoes, i truly truly would appreciate your advice and recommendation!

Dear Munirah Bahari

A very personal point of view post ahead!
Read at your own risk!
(Especially you MUNIRAH!)

Kuala Lumpur: A Malaysian group condemned the uniform worn by girls at government schools, saying it encouraged rape and pre-marital sex.

The white blouse is too transparent for girls and it becomes a source of attraction,” National Islamic Students Association of Malaysia vice-president Munirah Bahari said in a statement.

“It becomes a distraction to men, who are drawn to it, whether or not they like looking at it, she said, calling for a review of uniform policy so that it did not violate Islamic ideals. In multicultural Malaysia, home to majority-Muslim Malays as well as ethnic Chinese and Indians, female students at government schools have a choice of wearing a white blouse with a knee-length skirt or pinafore.

They may also wear a “baju kurung” and a headscarf is optional for Malay students. Munirah said that “covering up” according to Islamic precepts was important to fend off social ills, including “rape, sexual harassment and even premarital sex.”

“This leads to babies born out of wedlock and, to an extent, even prostitution,” she said. “Decent clothes which are not revealing can prevent and protect women from any untoward situations,” she said, suggesting that girls wear a blouse of a different colour or with an undergarment.

However, the girls themselves also came in for criticism, with the association saying that some used the white blouse to lure men. “This is the source of the problem, where we can see that schoolgirls themselves are capable of using this to attract men to them,” Munirah said. “This could see them getting molested, having premarital sex and all sorts of things.” – AFP

Now, Just where do i start?
Let's see... how about the part where this moron; Munirah starts to ACCUSE:

ALL men as school girl sexual perverts
All school girls as Inviting Whores!

Really Munirah, what were you thinking?

ANYTHING can and will be sexually inviting with people of YOUR level of mental and intellectual ability! It's has NOTHING to do with one's dressing. IT STARTED with the LACK of UNDERSTANDING and KNOWLEDGE! WHY??? Because in Malaysia, our education system teaches our kids that SEX is OHHHHH SO HARAM!!! DIRTYYYYY!!!! EWWWW... SHAMEFUL!!!! YOU WILL GO TO HELLLL IF YOU HAVE SEX!!!!

So what do they do when these hormone raging teenage do? They DO IT SECRETLY, without RESPECT of the opposite sex, without knowledge of the RISKS and possible BURDEN involved.

Get REAL Munirah, and get your FACTS straight before you open that silly gap of yours! Having pre-marital sex and Sex Perverts are TWO different issues here! And because you said School Uniforms are SEXUAL, well you just invented the third issue!

What our country need is BETTER SEX and MORAL EDUCATION and NOT a change into another SEXUAL UNIFORMS and MORONS like YOU Munirah!

STOP insulting the men and school children! Were you born yesterday? Did you even KNOW the difference between someone who was raped or had pre-marital sex???
Bear in mind, even an effin idiot knows that pre-marital sex didn't start from the school uniform.

If you really want to point the finger, go blame GOD for inventing PUBERTY and ORGASMS. Then BLAME the religion or education system who thinks that SEX is too dirty to be discussed!

It is also PEOPLE like you and your stupid ideas that SEXUAL PERVERTS have the last laugh and GROW BOLDER in knowing that women are obliging in being treated as sexual targets! Do me a favor Munirah, JUST SHUT THE HELL UP!

My Past is Making a Comeback

What seems to have died with the days of large Mickey-T's and carrot cut jeans are slowly making its way back.

And no, you should be thankful that Mickey T's and carrot cut jeans are not the ones making it's come back. Geek clan Christopher Pike book club and Archie Comics marathon aside, i'm referring to the ONLY teen soap opera i would sacrifice my time for.

My era 'Beverly Hills 90210'
-the pioneer version-

I still couldn't decide who's hotter; Jason or Luke.

And the NOW '90210'

I still couldn't decide who's even considered hot.

So much memories and drama something like this can bring back. For some reason, the newer 90210 doesn't seem to have the same kick as the old one. The faces are so 'mentah' and the guy's seem so scrawny. Oh well, just like how my dad would say Oldies are always the Goldies *sigh* talk about a surging generation gap. I guess i'll silent myself with my Desperate Housewives dosage now~

Bid's my last teen nostalgia flying kisses~

When Life Fails You

Be Materialistic

For friends will walk
A confidante may betray
Your pets may bite
And the lightning could strike
Until you realise that life's short
You would never have asked
If i should buy those shoes or not

A day on Saturday

Today slightly after two
I dash home from work to escape the traffic zoo
The sun was scorching hot and red
I could feel myself sizzle like a steak

Once i got home, hubba and i headed for lunch
He says; "I wanna have Penang food and something Cina to munch"
For some reason, we ended up at Atria Shopping Mall
Known for nothing except the Big Book Store

Right after food, we headed for the books
I was ubber excited you could tell from my looks
With all the low prices, variety and range
How could anyone possibly not go insane!

I spent most of time at the children's book section
Darting my eyes around for Dr Suess's collection
To my dismay there isn't any in sight
But i found something of an equal delight

It was a Tove Jansson children's classic
A hard cover beautifully illustrated book for only 10 ringgit
Feeling please with my new found treasure
I continued to hunt for more reading pleasure

My next discovery was a quirky little book
Entitled 'The Meaning of Tingo' by Adam Jacot de Boinod
It contains a bunch of extraordinary words from around the world
Some so funny i promise to blog about it later

As i go through the stack for the neatest book cover
One caught my attention with a sticker that says; 'Signed by the Author'
I quickly flip open the book to see
And i found something of a scribble instead of a signature to me

I bought the book anyway
If you're the author let me know if it's genuine okay?
As it would be truly amazing to know
How far your signature has traveled the globe

Until then i shall stop right here
As my favourite Domino's pizza has arrived to bring me cheer
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend
And a Happy Wesak to my celebrating friends!

Everyone can carry a 'Hermes' now...

well, ALMOST!

Apparently, these luxury brands are reaching the younger demographic without much fuss. I guess these paper ones are an attempt to reach the poorer demographics (like me).

I also have a gut feeling that they will effectively reach a much further group of audiences...
Just like this bag Vince got for her granny recently...

She received it during the recent Qing Ming of course... :)

What a Day!

Am suffering from a terrible migraine, most likely triggered by a series of unbelievable events that started right from the day followed by another muscle spasm on my shoulders. Am currently not in the mood to entertain ANYMORE 'witty' remarks, especially those who wants to prove their smartness through opening that gap called mouth.

Hubba had a really bad backache that wouldn't go away for almost a year; even after a couple of daylight robbery visits to a few chiropractors which wanted him to sign up hundreds of ringgit worth of courses to assure him a complete heal! Having already spent close to RM1k worth of visits with ZERO effect, i hate to doubt these RMIT certified chiropractors, but your practise sucks big time and money! Especially after we took mom's advise to try traditional chinese remedy - acupuncture.

Hubba's backache vanished that very day he had his first poking session. And it only costs RM15 per session along with a 10 mins of extreme massage by Dr Zhu from Beijing. As skeptical as most people would be towards chinese medicine practise, we were obviously proven very wrong to even doubt them the first place. Mom lost a couple of kilos from acupuncture slimming sessions, and dad got his back straighten after a horrible Thai massage gone wrong experience. So it became my turn today to let Dr Zhu fix my brick hard shoulders (after much coaxing by hubba). As much as i hated needles, my shoulder was being sucha bitch that my entire arm was aching so badly even causing my palm to have the numb prickly sensation which I actually endured for the last 3 days!

Before sending the needle down my nerves, Dr Zhu massaged my shoulders abit to locate that 'damage' and as if with bionic eyes, he pressed right at my sore nerve and gave me a hell of a squeeze or massage i can't differ... my face was all distorted with pain and my whole body just went limp! Then without me even knowing, the hair line needle went in and out at two points behind my shoulder and arm and i'm good to go! I'm still feeling a little sore on my shoulder, but my arm is a whole lot better, which is amazing! Might go back and inquire about the slimming acupuncture sessions, wondering if they can divert all that hip fat to somewhere higher... like the chest... hrmmm....

Mission KK: It's ON!

Ticket's, BOOKED! Lodging, BOOKED! Hiking team, CONFIRMED! Training Schedule, OUT! Fabulous Jacket, GOT IT! Hiking Shoes, STILL LOOKING Hiking Equipments, STILL SHOPPING!

It was hubba's ultimate dream and my deepest fear to conquer. I guess at one point in all of our lives, we just have the sudden urge to take on challenges to gain new meaningful experiences which leads us to new wisdom. Okay... maybe not so deep. But i really need a new sense of satisfaction with materialism aside.

And for some strange reason, when one has the strong will to achieve something, everything else just falls into the right place and on the right time. Just like how my former colleagues Jinne and Jas suddenly asked me to go hiking at Gunung Nuang with our former CD Fauzi (which they in turn did not go last minute! fong fei kei!)

We didn't scale the peak and only managed to reach almost half of the journey because we under estimated the whole thing! We were not well equiped with food and water AT ALL and Chienni's shoes literally TORE up in pieces! Yeah... it was that extreme. We couldn't feel our legs anymore and at some point, we even stopped sweating because our body literally DRIED out of sweat! Most interesting of all, we never had to pee! LOL!!!

So we took 3.5 hours to go up and another 3.5 to go down again. Going up was physically challenging. Coming down was mentally! The weather got humid after noon and we had to constantly watch our steps with our heads down and at the same time maintain grip and balance. So it wasn't easy as we thought it would be. I wanted to just roll off the hill because my legs were battled!!!

After Nuang, i told Mike i didn't want to do KK anymore. He looked at me sympathetically and a little disappointed. He said i was probably traumatized by the sudden physical and mental push. He was right about the trauma part. I couldn't quite imagine myself doing this for hours with the idea of NO TURNING BACK! What if i can't make it? What if i hurt myself? What if i get those altitude sickness thing EVERYONE is talking about?!?!? I wasn't just traumatized... i am PETRIFIED!!!

"We'll train slowly... every week, to build our rhythm and pace," coaxed hubba.

*SIGH* Well, i guess we could. We shall see...

Simple Pleasure

You should try this too :)

A shuddering post

I was probably around 6-ish then when Dynasty became my first angmoh soap opera favourite and could sit me quietly with my popo after dinner time. Can't understand a thing from the show but i still recall certain impression is has given me;
  1. Brunette = Evil b****h
  2. Blonde = Damsel in distress
  3. Grey haired man = Poor rich dude with all the love and money to give
  4. Kissing scene = Eat each other's tongue
  5. Gowns = Casual attire
  6. Nice ladies = Ugly suits with shoulder pads
  7. Mean ladies = Plunging neck lines with ultra big frilly bubble sleeves or pointed shoulder pads!

I don't know about you, but i was mightly glad when the shoulder pads died out in time during the 90's. But after seeing the following pic, that eerie chill of air suddenly fell on me, and my hair started raising again...

Hollymolly, that's a really good Joan Collins wannabe there Posh! Or are they attempting for a Dynasty Returns??? *shudders*
